On the first day of September, US stocks continued their strong performance in August. Driven by multiple bullish news, the three major indexes closed up across the board, and the Nasdaq remained the best performer.

U.S. manufacturing also continued to expand in August, rising to its highest level since January 2019. The raw materials sector was the best performer. Dow components Apple (AAPL) and Walmart (WMT) both performed well. Apple has asked suppliers to supply configurations for at least 75 million 5G iPhones this year, signaling the continued growth of demand and related chip suppliers moving higher. Nvidia's (NVDA) new graphics card was officially released, the stock price soared, and the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index rose nearly 2%.

The main indexes maintained their gains throughout the day, rising sharply in the end of trading day, all close at the top.
